One of the most vulnerable places I find myself in is feeling overconfident and believing that I know everything that there is to know.  Unfortunately, nine times out of ten, as I alluded to in my webinar, my overconfidence often leaves me foolishly wiping mud off my face.

For most of my career, I’ve worked for immense Fortune 500 companies.  However, I recently had the pleasure of joining Paragon, a smaller boutique consulting firm.  Before joining Paragon, I was under the guise that a larger company could provide more for their clients than a smaller company could.

Now, there are certainly exceptions to what I am about to say.  Still, after paying careful attention to this topic for the past six months, I have learned how much more in tune Paragon is with our clients and how much more drive and urgency there is when compared to other, much larger corporations that I’ve worked for.  It has been a fantastic eye-opener.  I believe smaller organizations foster better connections because smaller teams work closely together and are much more aware of how far along everyone else is on what they are accomplishing.  This awareness of everyone’s role helps create more camaraderie and cohesiveness.  It helps drive the importance of urgency and in putting our best “work foot” forward.

I was recently in a good-natured debate with a friend who still works for a big corporation.  Sure, both of us are going to be able to solve your problem and help you out.  But let me ask you this: isn’t there something to be said for feeling like the people who are helping you genuinely care about you?  I think yes, especially when it comes to complex HR issues like ACA, I-9, and anti-harassment compliance.  That is the feeling that we at Paragon want everyone to have when they work with us.  We want the process to be fun, comfortable, efficient, and friendly.  We certainly want to make sure clients don’t feel like just another number with a rep that can’t remember their name.  Not only is it fantastic to see our clients get excited about how involved we are with their projects and how seriously we take them, but it’s also inspiring to see how important the tasks become for us as a team internally.

At Paragon, we are here to support your company however you need us.  We are agile, open, and flexible.  Most importantly, we are ready to create custom solutions for your most complex HR challenges.
